Thundershowers expected in Gauteng this weekend: SAWS

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) says residents in Gauteng should prepare for cloudy conditions with widespread showers and thundershowers on Friday, 06 March 2026, with an 80% chance of rain across the province.
SAWS senior forecaster Tokelo Chiloane says the wet weather is expected to continue into the weekend, although the probability of rainfall will decrease to about 60% on Saturday and Sunday across Gauteng.
“ This weather is expected to continue to Saturday as well as Sunday; however, we will only have under 60% chances of showers and thunder showers for the weekend. When looking at temperatures for today, we are looking at a maximum of 20. Johannesburg’s maximum is 21, and Pretoria as well.”
