Despite being out-rebounded 73-46, Uganda capitalized on Nigeria’s 39 turnovers and secured 32 points off the bench to seal the win.
The Junior Gazelles had previously opened their campaign with a commanding 85-36 victory over Zimbabwe but faced a setback after a 76-53 loss to Egypt.
With both Uganda and Nigeria needing a win to advance, the Gazelles rose to the occasion.
In the other group match, Egypt dominated Zimbabwe 122-27 to finish the group stages with a perfect record.
The Junior Gazelles now join Tunisia, Cameroon, and Egypt in the quarterfinals.
Head coach John Omondi’s side will now look to carry their momentum forward as they eye a spot in the semifinals.
