Derrick Mubiru is set on revenge as he faces Kassim Murungi in the main event of Week Six of the Uganda Boxing Champions League this Saturday at Club Obligato.
This Featherweight bout I the latest installment in what promises to be a fierce rivalry between the two fighters.
Murungi was declared the victor in their last encounter during Week Ten of last season, a decision that left Mubiru visibly upset.
The fight was closely contested, with Murungi winning by a narrow 4:3 margin, as decided by seven judges.
Mubiru, from Namungona Boxing Club, did not hide his frustration after the previous bout and had to be escorted out of the ring by his friend and fellow boxer, Matovu Ukasha.
He is now determined to settle the score.
“I want to reclaim what I believe was stolen from me,” Mubiru declared at Friday’s face-off.
“I want to show everyone what I can do. You all know what happened last time; even my opponent was surprised to be awarded that win. But this time it’s going to be a different story.”
Murungi, representing East Coast, brings a wealth of experience, having won bronze at the African Games and represented Uganda at the Mandela Boxing Cup recently.
He aims to prove that his previous victory was no fluke and solidify his standing in the league.
