The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has announced that it will release the final results of the 2024 census this week. The results, which will provide comprehensive data on Uganda’s population, will be unveiled on October 3rd at Kampala Serena Hotel. In a press briefing on Monday, UBOS spokesperson Didacus Okoth confirmed that the final census report is ready, as per the census roadmap.“The report will address key questions regarding how Ugandans live, what they own, and where they access essential services,” Okoth said.Earlier in June, UBOS released preliminary census findings that estimated Uganda’s population at 45.9 million. These early results focused on the population’s size, sex, age, and geographical distribution. However, the final report will delve deeper, providing a detailed analysis for national planning and investment decisions.“The final report will contain crucial information for reference over the next decade,” Okoth added, explaining that the data will serve as a benchmark for future surveys until the next census. It will include insights into mental health, education, healthcare accessibility, and housing conditions. For instance, it will show how many Ugandans experience mental health issues and the distances children travel to access schools.Okoth urged stakeholders to utilize the detailed report to guide their decisions, as it will provide the most up-to-date statistics on Uganda’s social and economic conditions.https://www.ugbulletin.co.ug/ubos-to-release-final-2024-census-results-this-week/
