Amus College School defender Toto Majub has been summoned on South Sudan’s U20 provisional squad revealed on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Toto was named amongst nine other defenders as South Sudan U-20 head coach, Bilal Felix released a provisional 39-man squad list to start preparations for the upcoming U20 AFCON – CECAFA Qualifiers 2024 in Tanzania.
The South Sudan U20 team is set to kickoff training tomorrow, Monday, September 21, at the Juba National Stadium.
Meanwhile, the defender already joined the Uganda Hippos camp at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru. Uganda, like South is also preparing for the same regional qualification competition.
Toto trained with the team, and was part of the Uganda U20 squad that defeated Uganda Premier League (UPL) side Lugazi 2-1 in a practice match played at Njeru on Saturday.
In the friendly match, Alex Yiga and Elvis Ssekajugo scored for the Uganda Hippos, as Alvin Birungi got a consolation for Lugazi.
It’s even more interesting that the two neighboring countries have been placed in the same group B of the tournament that also has Burundi and Ethiopia.
The other Group (A) has five countries, including hosts Tanzania, Sudan, Rwanda Djibouti and Kenya.
The tournament will be played between 6th-20th October, 2024, and Uganda will start with Ethiopia on 7th, before playing Burundi on 9th and finalizing the group stage with South Sudan on 11th.
The top two teams in each one of the two Groups (A and B) will face off in the semi-final to decide the best two, who will have automatically earned a ticket straight to next year’s U20 AFCON.
