Uganda shines at China International Tourism Expo
The Ugandan Embassy in Beijing, alongside the Ugandan Consulate General in Guangzhou, highlighted Uganda’s tourism potential at the 2024 China International Tourism Industry Expo (CITIE) in Guangzhou.This prestigious event, held annually each September, attracted tourists and investors by showcasing Uganda’s vibrant cultural heritage, diverse wildlife, and breathtaking natural landscapes.The CITIE 2024 expo, hosted at the China Export and Import Fair Complex in Guangzhou, is China’s largest comprehensive international tourism event.Organized by the Guangdong Province Culture and Tourism Development and Support Center, the expo spanned an impressive 40,000 square meters.It featured 100 global destinations, 500 tourism service providers, and over 43,000 visitors, representing more than 50 countries and regions.This year’s event played a crucial role in exploring the southern Chinese tourism market, contributing to the global recovery of the tourism sector and shaping a new future for the world tourism economy.Uganda’s stall drew considerable attention from visitors, particularly for its rich cultural displays and diverse wildlife offerings. Key attractions included Uganda’s iconic Big Five—lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalo—as well as its stunning natural endowments such as waterfalls, national parks, freshwater bodies, and hot springs.The exhibit also highlighted Uganda’s renowned coffee, which was a crowd favorite.During the closing ceremony, the Ugandan Consulate in Guangzhou received an accolade for being the best organizer.The recognition honored its exceptional efforts in promoting Uganda’s tourism potential and building international partnerships.Uganda’s Consul General in Guangzhou, Amb. Judyth Nsababera, expressed her pride in the consulate’s achievements, stating, “This accolade underscores our commitment to excellence and our role in positioning Uganda as a premier destination for travelers and investors.
