The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when Ibra, who was wearing his media house-branded jacket, was hit by an explosive device, a shocking act of aggression by security forces who are supposed to protect journalists and uphold their safety while on duty.

In a statement, the UJA strongly condemned the attack, calling it an unacceptable violation of press freedom and a blatant act of impunity. The association emphasized that such actions undermine the safety of journalists who are performing their professional roles in the public interest.

“The Ugandan media plays a vital role in upholding democracy and transparency, and attacks on journalists are an attack on the very foundation of free speech. We demand accountability from the authorities responsible for this brutal act,” said the UJA.
