UMSC Mourns Sheikh Hussein Twahiri Walugumba


Kampala-His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, on his own behalf and on behalf of the entire Muslim fraternity, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Sheikh Hussein Twahiri Walugumba, a member of the UMSC Majlis Al-Ulama, the College of Eminent Sheikhs mandated under the UMSC Constitution to elect the Mufti and his deputies.

The late Sheikh Walugumba represented the Busoga Muslim region on the Majlis Al-Ulama and also served as Principal of Nahadha Islamic Institute, an institution established by the late Sheikh Ali Bakari, the father of His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, the Deputy Mufti based in Namalemba, Bugweri Muslim District.
In his condolence message, the Mufti described the late Sheikh Walugumba as a humble, soft-spoken scholar who devoted his entire life to the service of Islam and humanity, and called upon Muslims to emulate his exemplary character and commitment.
The Mufti prayed to Almighty Allah to accept the late Sheikh’s efforts, forgive his human shortcomings, and grant him divine mercy by admitting him among the righteous servants who have returned to their Creator in peace and bliss.
Sheikh Hussein Twahiri Walugumba died following a fatal accident and will be laid to rest on Monday, January 12, 2026, at his ancestral family grounds in Bugweri.
