UNEB Recovers Missing PLE Scripts from Koboko School, Assures Timely Marking

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, UNEB said the scripts belonging to 34 candidates were recovered intact and have since been forwarded for marking.
According to the examinations body, the scripts were discovered during routine quality control checks conducted ahead of the release of the 2025 PLE results. UNEB noted that the candidates had initially been tentatively awarded an “X” grade as investigations into the whereabouts of the scripts were underway.
“The investigation led to the discovery of a sealed script envelope, which was found intact in the lockable box designated for UNEB materials in the office of the Headteacher at Bamure Primary School,” the statement reads.
To rule out any possibility of tampering, the recovered scripts were first handed over to Koboko Central Police Station. Police officers collected the envelope from the school and confirmed that it had not been interfered with before it was officially released to UNEB for marking.
UNEB has since invited examiners to mark and grade the recovered scripts, with assurances that the process will be completed promptly to allow affected candidates participate in the ongoing selection and placement exercise.
“The Board reassures parents and candidates of Bamure Primary School, and all concerned stakeholders, that the scripts will be marked expeditiously and the candidates graded in time,” UNEB said.
The statement was signed by UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer, Ms. Jennifer Kalule-Musamba.
