UNEB Urges Heads of Centers to Display Candidate Registration Lists
Dan Odongo, the Executive Director of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), has called on heads of examination centers to ensure the full display of candidate registration lists for the 2024 exams, in compliance with the UNEB Act.
In a statement released on Monday, Odongo emphasized that this year’s mandatory display period will run from August 12 to October 11. He stressed that candidate registers must be prominently displayed on school notice boards where the candidates are registered, allowing parents to confirm the registration status of their children.
“Parents of students attending schools without UNEB center status should verify where these students have been registered and ensure that they are properly listed,” the statement read.
Odongo highlighted the importance of this process in preventing situations where students are found to be unregistered when the examination period begins. Over the years, numerous complaints about unregistered candidates have surfaced, causing significant distress to parents who have invested heavily in their children’s education.
During the mandatory display period, UNEB noted that it is the responsibility of candidates, heads of centers, and parents to thoroughly review the register and confirm the accuracy of the candidates’ biodata, including correct spelling and order of names, date of birth, gender, and the candidate’s photograph.
Additionally, UNEB clarified that any necessary amendments should be submitted through the school to UNEB before the commencement of the examinations.

In cases where a student who has proof of payment for registration fees is found not to be registered, UNEB advised parents to report the issue to their headquarters immediately for remedial action.
