Preparations for the 2026 Buganda Schools Sports Competitions have intensified following an inspection visit by the Buganda Schools Sports Competitions Committee to Kawanda Secondary School, the confirmed host venue.
The inspection team, led by chairman Gerald Katamba, assessed the school’s facilities and overall readiness ahead of the championship slated for March.
Kawanda S.S will host the prestigious competition for the third consecutive year, underlining the confidence the committee has in the institution’s organizational capacity.
The secretariat will open on March 9 to handle preliminary fixtures in disciplines that have attracted large entries. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for March 12, with the tournament climaxing on March 15.
Speaking during the inspection, Katamba emphasized the importance of early preparations and discipline among participating schools.
“We want all schools to register as early as possible to allow proper planning and smooth organization of the games. These competitions are about talent development, discipline and unity, and we must prepare adequately to achieve that,” Katamba said.
He also called upon all games teachers to attend a preparatory meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 19 at 10:00am at Bulange Mengo.
Head teacher Ahmed Kamoga Bukenya assured the committee of the school’s readiness, pledging a well organized and competitive championship.
This year’s edition will feature Football, Netball, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Handball, Table Tennis, Chess, Scrabble, Rugby 7s and Mweso for both primary and secondary schools.
With preparations in full swing, the 2026 Buganda Schools Sports Competitions are shaping up to be another thrilling showcase of grassroots sporting talent across the region.
