In a gesture of inspiration and partnership, the International School of Uganda (ISU) in Lubowa on Saturday, October 25, 2025, donated a set of sports balls to St. Julian Sports Academy in Gayaza. The donation included footballs, volleyballs, and basketballs, aiming to boost the academy’s growing sports programs.
The items were delivered by Ms. Haidee Buzu, Personal Assistant to the ISU Head of School, who also happens to be a parent at St. Julian High School, Gayaza. The handover took place during the school’s Senior One and Senior Six visitation day.
While handing over the equipment to the academy’s Sports Manager, Mr. Mbuga Swaibu, Ms. Haidee expressed that the donation was driven by inspiration and shared values between the two institutions.
> “When I brought my daughter back in second term, I was approached by the sports manager (Mbuga Swaibu), and when I went back to my workplace (International School of Uganda), I shared the inspiration with our athletics director, Mr. Brendan Tobin, who picked interest and promised to support where need be,” said Ms. Haidee.
She further noted that the gesture was not about capacity but encouragement.
“We are donating these balls not because you can’t afford buying them but because of the inspiration. Mr. Brendan has promised to extend more support to the project.”
Receiving the donation, Mr. Mbuga Swaibu lauded ISU for the thoughtful contribution and reaffirmed the academy’s commitment to nurturing young talent.
“This donation has come as a surprise, and it will keep us going and determined because we take it as a sign of appreciation from people outside the institution,” he said.“We initiated this project to give opportunities to every student because sports is for all. Many children out there have dreams in sports, but the challenge is how they get where they want to go. Here, we strive to bridge that gap within the St. Julian Schools community.”
