Museveni Unveils NRM App: A Bold Step into Uganda’s Digital Mobilization Future

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has officially launched the NRM App, a modern digital platform designed to strengthen communication, enhance citizen mobilization, and streamline political outreach nationwide. The launch was held on November 12, 2025, at Mbale State Lodge, attracted senior government officials, Activity-Based Mobilizers (ABM), and developers who have been central to the project’s creation and rollout.
Developed under the coordination of the State House Local Content Unit, the App is a product of Uganda’s own technological talent. Senior Presidential Adviser Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi, who heads the Local Content Unit, provided strategic oversight, while lead developer Katamba Ronald and his team worked to design a platform that integrates digital mobilization, communication, and community outreach. The App stands as a testament to Uganda’s growing ability to build and deploy local technological solutions tailored for national needs.
In his speech, President Museveni noted that political organizations and governments must embrace technology if they are to remain effective in an era dominated by digital communication. He emphasized that the NRM’s survival and success depend on reaching citizens, especially young people, through the mobile devices they use every day.
He described the App as an essential tool for strengthening transparency and minimizing information gaps between leaders and communities. By enabling real-time access to verified updates, President Museveni said the platform will help counter misinformation, improve trust in leadership, and support national programs through efficient communication.
The project also aligns with the broader national goal of empowering local innovators. By creating a home-grown digital system, the State House Local Content Unit is championing President Museveni’s commitment to nurturing Uganda’s technological capabilities.
At its core, the NRM App is built to address long-standing challenges in political and community mobilization challenges that include delayed information flow, difficulties in coordinating events across vast regions, and the lack of centralized platforms for citizen feedback. One of its most crucial features is the delivery of authenticated, verified information. Users can access official national updates, policy details, announcements, and mobilization messages directly from trusted sources. This ensures that citizens receive accurate information promptly, minimizing confusion and reducing reliance on unverified social media platforms.
The App’s integrated livestreaming function is another major highlight. For the first time, citizens across the country can watch presidential addresses, national celebrations, key NRM events, and community engagements without needing to travel. Whether in urban or rural areas, users can stay connected to national happenings in real time, making events more inclusive and expanding their reach.
Citizen participation is also central to the platform. Through easy-to-navigate Android and iOS interfaces, users can register, join community spaces, respond to polls and surveys, access news feeds, and share structured feedback. This two-way communication strengthens the relationship between citizens and leaders and gives the public an accessible channel to express their views or concerns.
On the leadership side, the App includes a powerful administrator dashboard. Mobilizers and leaders can track user engagement, manage content, upload media, coordinate livestream sessions, and understand community dynamics through built-in analytics. This functionality allows decision-makers to respond to citizen needs more effectively and to base strategies on real data rather than assumptions.

The App also preserves an extensive media library that includes videos, photos, publications, and recordings of past events. This repository ensures that users can easily access important information and historical content whenever they need it. Multilingual support ensures that the App remains relevant and accessible across different regions and cultures. It also integrates major social media platforms such as WhatsApp, X, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, making it easier for users to share information and stay connected.
During the launch, SPA Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi commended the developers and ABM mobilizers whose dedication made the project possible. She highlighted the President’s consistent support for local innovation as a driving force behind the success of the App.
Now available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, the App brings national communication directly to millions of Ugandans, bridging distances and strengthening national unity. Far more than a piece of software, the NRM App represents a vision for a connected, informed, and empowered Uganda, a vision that embraces digital innovation as a driving force for national progress and modern governance.
