A Primary Seven pupil at Greenhill School (Buwate) has died, three weeks after sustaining severe injuries in a mysterious fall incident that occurred at the school last month.
Augustine Kizito, 12, reportedly fell from the second floor of a classroom block shortly after leaving his class at around 4:03 pm on October 22, 2025.
Greenhill stated in an initial communication issued shortly after the incident: “We rushed him to hospital where he was joined by family members.”
The child—a son of DP/NUP stalwart Kenneth Kakande—was admitted to TMR Hospital Naalya, where he was placed in intensive care as doctors attempted to stabilise him. After weeks of treatment, he passed away on November 12, 2025, due to complications arising from the injuries.
Greenhill School said it immediately notified police, the Ministry of Education, and child-welfare authorities, and has continued cooperating with the ongoing investigations.
“This is a devastating loss for our school community. We mourn the passing of our pupil and extend our deepest sympathies to the family,” a school official said. Counsellors have since been deployed to support both learners and teachers.
In a message shared within the Greenhill community, the parents revealed they had spent over UGX 100 million on medical care in their fight to save their son. Some parents have begun mobilising support to help the grieving family manage outstanding medical and funeral expenses.
