University Sports Fraternity Mourns UCU’s Dean

The East African university sports community is mourning the death of Dean Pamela Tumwebaze of Uganda Christian University (UCU), whose passing has been described as a significant loss to the region’s academic and sporting fraternity.
Pamela was murdered on Tuesday night by unknown killers at her home 
The Federation of East African University Sports (FEAUS) announced her death with deep sorrow, paying tribute to a leader it credited for her commitment to the growth and professionalisation of university sport across the region.

Dean Tumwebaze served with distinction at UCU as an academic and administrator, earning respect for her dedication to student welfare and her steadfast support for sports development within the institution. Her influence extended beyond the university, as she played an active role in strengthening collaboration among member institutions under the FEAUS framework.
Within the federation, she was regarded as a principled and dependable leader. Colleagues noted that her contributions to meetings, programmes and strategic initiatives were characterised by integrity, humility and a strong spirit of teamwork.
She is remembered as a mentor and advocate who consistently championed student-athletes, encouraging both academic excellence and sporting achievement. Her efforts contributed to shaping structures that promoted professionalism and sustainability in university sports.
In its official condolence message, FEAUS extended sympathies to her family, friends, colleagues and the entire Uganda Christian University community, noting that her absence will be deeply felt across the East African university sports fraternity.
Dean Pamela Tumwebaze leaves behind a legacy of service, leadership and mentorship that will continue to inspire the next generation of university sports administrators and student-athletes across the region.
