USSSA Elite Games 2026: Bukedea,Gombe Strike Gold as Tournament MVPs Steal the Show

The 2026 USSSA Elite Schools Championship climaxed in thrilling fashion on Sunday at Janan Secondary School Bombo, with Uganda’s top secondary schools battling for supremacy across multiple disciplines.
From rugby to football, basketball to netball, the tournament delivered unforgettable performances, emerging stars, and dominant displays from traditional powerhouses.
Rugby 7’s: Nkoma and London College Reign
In the girls’ Rugby 7’s category, Nkoma Secondary School claimed gold, while St. Johns SS Wakitaka settled for silver. Anirwoth Sunday of Nkoma SS walked away with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolade.
The boys’ crown went to London College, who topped Kira College Butiki in the final standings. Malekha Gerald of London College was named MVP, while Mbarara High School secured bronze.
Handball: Gombe SS Dominates
Gombe Secondary School stamped their authority in handball, clinching gold in both the girls’ and boys’ categories.
Maryhill finished second in the girls’ division, with Bombo Army SS taking bronze. Nakawala Flavia of Gombe SS earned the girls’ MVP award.
In the boys’ competition, Bombo Army SS claimed silver and Kawanda S.S bronze, while Hingabire Trevor of Gombe SS was named MVP.
Basketball: Kitende and Buddo Share the Glory
The 3×3 girls’ basketball title went to Mvara SS, ahead of Seroma Christian High School and Ndejje SS. Nyamutoro Gatrude of Mvara SS stood out as MVP.
Seroma Christian High School triumphed in the boys’ 3×3 category, defeating Kira College Butiki in the final rankings, with Fondo Franklin named MVP.
In the traditional five-a-side category, St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende lifted the girls’ trophy, overcoming Buddo S.S, who settled for silver. Kiranda Shifrah of Kitende was recognized as MVP.
The boys’ title went to Buddo Secondary School after edging Amus College School, while Ange Steven of Buddo SS scooped the MVP award despite Seroma Christian H.S taking bronze.
Volleyball: Bukedea Double Delight

Bukedea Comprehensive School dominated volleyball, securing gold in both girls’ and boys’ categories.
In the girls’ division, St. Elizabeth finished second and Seroma Christian H.S third. Aponyo Hope of Bukedea Comprehensive was named MVP.
On the boys’ side, Standard High School claimed silver while Seroma Christian H.S took bronze. Otim Joel of Bukedea Comprehensive earned the MVP award.
Netball: Buddo Edges Kitende
In netball, Buddo Secondary School captured gold, beating St. Mary’s Kitende into silver position. Namagabi S.S secured bronze.
Namuyomba Rahuma of Kitende was voted MVP after an outstanding individual display.
Football: St. Noa and Bukedea Crowned Champions
The girls’ football title went to St. Noa Girls Secondary School, who outclassed Kawempe Muslim S.S in a fiercely contested final. Agnes Nabukenya of Kawempe Muslim finished as top scorer, while Nakirya Lilian of St. Noa claimed the Golden Glove. Patricia Nayiga was named tournament MVP.
In the boys’ category, Bukedea Comprehensive School added football gold to their volleyball success after overcoming Mentor SS. Oyiru Ogwang Gabriel of Mentor SS earned MVP honors, while Ayiko Samuel (Mentor SS) took the Golden Glove award. Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga finished third, and Amis Yabil emerged as the top scorer.
