Namagabi Secondary School is brimming with confidence ahead of their historic debut at the 7th edition of the USSSA Elite Schools Championship, set to take place from 26th February to 1st March 2026 in Bombo.
Making their first appearance at the prestigious competition, the Kayunga-based side is determined to compete fiercely against the country’s top-performing schools from last year.
Team captain Kadede John admits the challenge ahead is huge but says the team is ready to rise to the occasion.

“This is our first time to go to the Elite Schools Championship. We don’t know what is there, but I know the teams in these games are the best of last year, so we’re also going to compete,” he said confidently.
Namagabi SS earned their slot after an impressive display last season, and head coach Hamidu Mugerwa believes the team deserves to be among the elite. Speaking on Monday at the school premises in Kayunga, the tactician emphasized that his charges are heading to Bombo with purpose.
“This is our first time to reach the Elite Schools Championship. We have worked for it and put up a good display last year. It is the same we are aiming for this year. We are going to Bombo to compete, not just to participate,” Mugerwa stated.
“We want to use this tournament to prepare for the 2026 National Championship trophy, and we also want to be at the top.”
Namagabi SS will face stiff competition from seven other schools, including hosts Janan Secondary School Bombo, Namugongo Secondary and Vocational School, Standard High School Zzana, St. Kagwa Bushenyi High School, St. Benedict SS, Seroma Christian High School, and defending champions Bukedea Comprehensive School.
Bukedea Comprehensive School heads into the tournament as the reigning boys’ volleyball champions, adding another layer of intensity to the competition.
With ambition, belief, and preparation on their side, Namagabi SS will be aiming not only to rub shoulders with the giants of school volleyball but to announce themselves as a rising force in the game.
