A General’s Mockery, a Nation’s Agony

While Ugandans disappear into torture chambers, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba—the son of President Museveni and Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (UPDF)—takes to Twitter to joke about abductions. His latest posts read like a sick comedy script:

“I captured NUP’s military commander like a grasshopper (Nsenene). If they keep provoking us, we shall discipline them even more.”

“Eddie is looking very smart these days. The boys have tuned him well. He salutes Mzee’s picture every day before breakfast.”

“I can’t release Eddie now. It would be unfair to me and to him. He is learning Runyankore, and we are both training for Kabobi.”

This is not leadership. This is terror glamorized.

How does a sitting general, entrusted with national security, publicly boast about detaining citizens without trial? How does the world remain silent as Uganda’s military morphs into a personal militia for the First Family?

The Pain of a Suffering Nation

Behind Muhoozi’s glib tweets are real people—beaten, broken, and buried in silence. Families beg for answers about missing loved ones. Activists file habeas corpus petitions, only to be ignored. Journalists risk arrest for reporting the truth.

Sarah Bireete, a leading human rights advocate, condemns this impunity:
“When a general jokes about torture, it confirms what we’ve long feared: the military sees Ugandans as playthings. The international community’s silence is complicity.”

Ronald Kasirye, an investigative journalist, adds:
“Muhoozi’s tweets aren’t just unprofessional—they’re admissions of guilt. If this were any other country, sanctions would follow. But Uganda’s dictatorship gets a free pass.”

The Mockery of Democracy

Muhoozi’s rise epitomizes Uganda’s descent into family rule:

A “general” with no combat legacy, catapulted over decorated officers.

A military that serves one man’s dynasty, not the constitution.

A world that looks away, because Museveni’s regime is a “strategic ally.”

Male Deogratius, a political analyst, warns:
“This is how democracies die—not with a coup, but with a laugh. When soldiers tweet about torture instead of facing accountability, the nation is already a prison.”

The World’s Shameful Silence

The so-called “democratic” nations—the U.S., U.K., and EU—issue limp statements while arming and funding the very regime brutalizing Ugandans. Why?

Oil deals

Security partnerships

The myth of ‘stability’ over justice

Hypocrisy has a name, and it’s called “realpolitik.”

Calls to Action: No More Silence!

1. Amplify the Truth – Share Muhoozi’s tweets using hashtags:
#MuhooziTortureTweets | #SanctionMuseveniNow | #UgandaIsBleeding

2. Demand International Action – Pressure the ICC, UN, and AU to investigate military abductions and torture.

3. Boycott Enablers – Name and shame corporations and banks funding Museveni’s war machine.

Final Word: Uganda’s Cry for Justice

To the world watching: Your silence is a death sentence.
To Ugandans suffering: Your resistance is history in the making.

Dictatorships fall when the oppressed stop fearing—and the world stops looking away.
