Why Blacks Power Left Aki Bua Stadium

1

Lira-based Big League side Blacks Power FC have shifted away from the Aki Bua Stadium, and found a new home in Lango Sports Ground.

“There’s a structural plan to redevelop Aki Bua into a modern sports complex, and as the current occupants of the ground, we had to pave way for the government project to take course without any contestation,” Blacks Power CEO Edison Sabasaba revealed.

“It’s mandatory for us, as a second division club to always host our games in a facility that meets FUFA Competitions standards, and that’s also why we chose to seek temporary refuge at the Lira Sports Ground,” Sabasaba further explained.

“We intend to refurbish the ground located Lira Golf Course to a selective standard that can host league games at all levels. We also pride in expanding collective co-existence in terms of sports development.”

“We really thank the management of Lira Golf & Sports Association (LSGA) for such an outward path,” the Blacks Power CEO stated.

The club had earlier on this month written to the LSGA, requesting to use their football field to host FUFA Big League games for the upcoming two seasons (2024/25 – 2025/26).

A meeting followed, between the club and LSGA’s Board of Trustees on July 21, at National Council of Sports Boardroom, where it was agreed that Blacks Power may use the facilities of LSGA.

LSGA chairman, McKenzie Ogwang revealed on Wednesday that further details of the agreement will be worked out accordingly by both parties.
