President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to be in Sironko District today afternoon on his camping trail. Lets diverse the background of the area:-Sironko District has two constituencies, 42 Sub Counties/Town Councils, 224 parishes and 1543 villages.The total population of Sironko district is 298,363  according to the census report 2024. ⁠In the 2021 Presidential Elections, Sironko District had 132,465 registered voters. Out of these, 81,898 (61.8%) voted. ⁠His Excellency got 43,275 (52.8%). NUP got 28,900 (35.3%). The others polled 9,716 (11.9%). In 2025, Sironko District has a total of 155,799 voters. The Polling Stations are 442 up from 391 in 2021.PARISH DEVELOPMENT MODEL (PDM) DISBURSEMENT.Sironko District with 224 Parishes has cumulatively received Shs. 68,992,400,736=. Out of this, Shs.68,046,823,800 = (98.63%) has been disbursed to 66,809 beneficiary households.  Sironko District has a total of 71,711 Households.  Out of 71,711 households in Sironko, when you subtract the 66,809 (93% of the total households) that have benefited from PDM, the balance is 4,902 households. These include even those who are already in the money\economy.EMYOOGA.The 2 Constituencies of Sironko District have a total of 36 Emyooga SACCOs with 18,821 members. Government has so far disbursed a total of Shs. 1,540,000,000 =.EDUCATION SECTOR Sironko District has a total of: 111 Government primary schools with 98,962 pupils enrolled.12 Government secondary schools with 10,660 students enrolled. All the secondary schools provide Universal Secondary Education and Universal Post Ordinary Level Education and Training.PRIMARY EDUCATIONSironko district has a total of 111 government primary schools with 98,962 pupils enrolled.DISTRIBUTION OF GOVERNMENT PRIMARY SCHOOLSSironko District has 224 parishes, with 98 having at least one government primary school, while 126 Parishes are still lacking government primary schools. However, Sironko District local government has 111 Government primary schools. SECONDARY EDUCATION Sironko District has 42 Sub counties with 12 having a Government secondary school and 30 not having a secondary school. All the schools provide Universal Secondary Education and Universal Post Ordinary Level Education and Training with a total enrollment of 10,660.CONSTRUCTION OF SEED SCHOOLSPlans are underway to construct 3 new secondary schools through the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers (UgIFT) program and the Uganda Secondary Education Expansion Project (USEEP) in Sironko district. When these secondary schools are completed, 27 sub-counties will remain without a government secondary school. PRESIDENTIAL INDUSTRIAL HUBS. His Excellency  introduced skilling hubs in each sub region of Uganda. So far, we have 19 of them across the Country.These train students in the following fields:1. Welding and Metal fabrication.2. ⁠Carpentry and Joinery.3. ⁠Building and Construction.4. ⁠Tailoring and Garment design.5. ⁠Hairdressing.6. ⁠Bakery and Confectionary7. ⁠Leather Design (Shoemaking).For Bugisu, the hub is in Mbale District and so far we have skilled 1167.HEALTH SECTOROut of a total of 42 Sub-Counties in Sironko district, 2  have a HCIV and 18 Sub-Counties have HCIIIs. The sub counties without a Health facility of HCIIIs and above are 22. The following are planned:·Plan to upgrade Bubbeza HCII to HCIII in Bubbeza S/C.·Plan to upgrade Buyaya HCII to HCIII in Lulena S/C.·Plan to upgrade Kyesha HCII to HCIII in Namaguli S/C.·Plan to upgrade Bugusege HCII to HCIII in Nalusala S/C.·Plan to upgrade Nampanga HCII to HCIII in Mafudu S/C.·New HCIIIs to be constructed in Buhungu, Bukyabo, Bumalimba, Bunyafa, Busiita, Dahami, Bugambi, Bukiyi, Buteza, Bukyambi, Busulani, Namugabwe, Busamaga, Mafudu Sub-counties, & Kama, Buweri, Bukiiyiti, Butandiga, Gombe Gasawa Town Councils WAY FORWARD UNDER HEALTHContinue with immunization programmes to prevent diseases.Upgrade Bubbeza HCII to HCIII in Bubbeza S/C.Upgrade Buyaya HCII to HCIII in Lulena S/C.Upgrade Kyesha HCII to HCIII in Namaguli S/C.Upgrade Bugusege HCII to HCIII in Nalusala S/C.Upgrade Nampanga HCII to HCIII in Mafudu S/C.New HCIIIs to be constructed in Buhungu, Bukyabo, Bumalimba, Bunyafa, Busiita, Dahami, Bugambi, Bukiyi, Buteza, Bukyambi, Busulani, Namugabwe, Busamaga, Mafudu Sub-counties, & Kama, Buweri, Bukiiyiti, Butandiga, Gombe Gasawa Town CouncilsWork towards total eradication of malaria.Use ICT to track medicines in Government Health Units and to fight absenteeism of Health Workers. Construction houses for Health Workers.Ensure that all Government Health Units are well equipped with diagnostic and other equipment.WATER SECTOR Out of 1,543 rural villages in Sironko District, 1,374 have access to a safe water source, representing coverage of (89%). This leaves 169 (11%) villages without access to safe water.Status of piped water supply systems in small towns/RGCs. The Sironko Town Council Piped Water Supply System now serves 27,000 residents.Budadiri Town Council System reaches 21,600 people. A total of 24 additional piped water supply and sanitation systems are operational across the district including:1. Mutufu Town Board Water Supply system serving 6,694.2.  Buteza WSS serving 5,400 people, 3. Pato WSS serving 4,680 people,4. Nampanga-Mafudu WSS serving 4,860 people,5. Gombe WSS serving 4,320 people, 6. Bweru Water Supply system serving 3,780 people. 7. Mujambe WSS serving 2,645 people, 8. Buginyanya WSS serving 16,330 people,9. Bulaago WSS serving 14,375 people, 10. ⁠Bumasifwa WSS serving 11,730 people.11. ⁠Butangiga WSS serving 11,270 people12. Buwalasi GFS- Water Supply System serving 13,683 people13. Buyobo GFS – WSS serving 10,994 people14. ⁠Kibira WSS serving 10,925 people,15. ⁠Kifuungo WSS serving 9,775 people,16. ⁠Masira GFS – WSS serving 9,074 people, 17. ⁠Miwu GFS – WSS serving 9,948 people, 18. ⁠Nabalenzi A WSS serving 9,879 people,19. ⁠Nabalenzi B WSS serving 11,443 people,20. ⁠Nasutani WSS serving 10,235 people,21. ⁠Sambuko Wss Serving 11,788 people,22. ⁠Sisiya WSS serving 14,410 people,23. ⁠Zesui GFS – WSS serving 11,776 people and 24. ⁠Bukiiyi WSS serving 15,985 people.  Future Plans.·Construction of Nasumati Piped Water Supply and Sanitation System, a flagship project that will extend safe water access to underserved rural communities.The ongoing expansion of the Sironko and Budadiri water systems will further increase both coverage and reliability, pushing the district toward universal water access (100%) in the coming years. WATER FOR PRODUCTIONMajor Achievements:·Bukiise Solar-Powered Irrigation Demonstration Site (8 acres) completed and fully operational.Ongoing & Planned Interventions:·Kabokani Solar Powered Irrigation Scheme under construction.·Performance improvement of the Bukiise Gravity Scheme underway to enhance water distribution efficiency.·Planned Mutufu Solar Powered Irrigation Scheme (BADEA) and Bujibuni Site (Nexus Green, 12 acres).·Flood protection projects: three valley tanks (Kikuyu, Bunashimolo, and Kibira), each with 30 million litres capacity. WAY FORWARD UNDER WATER SECTOR1.
