Dayne Jr Moore, the South African-based Zambian, clinched the 2024 Johnnie Walker Uganda Professional Open.

Moore finished two strokes ahead of Rwanda’s Celestine Nsanzuwera after Saturday’s final round at the Entebbe Golf Club.

Moore’s opening round of seven-under 64 on Thursday set the tone for his success, followed by rounds of 73, 72, and 72, ultimately finishing at three-under-par 281.

While Moore didn’t replicate his first-round brilliance, he managed the course well, even recovering from a double-bogey on the fifth hole on Saturday.

A crucial birdie on the sixth stabilized his game, allowing him to fend off a charging Nsanzuwera, who shot a final-day 68 but fell short after a costly bogey on the par-5 15th.

He is the latest Zambian to win this event after Madalisto Muthiya in 2015 and 2019.

Kenyan veteran Dismas Indiza who was the defending champion, at nearly 56 years old, continues to defy age, finishing third with a score of 284, tied with Kenyan amateur Adel Balala, who posted a tournament-best 67 on the final day.

Indiza’s level-par performance across the four days further solidified his reputation as one of the region’s enduring talents.

The best Ugandan performance came from Philip Kasozi, who finished tied for sixth at three-over-par.

Meanwhile, Abraham Ainamani, the second-best Ugandan, ended five-over in a tie for ninth.

However, Ronald Rugumayo struggled on the final day, posting a score of 80, including a disastrous 9 on the 18th hole, dropping him to 23rd place.
