I Did Not Seek For Political Support Or An Allience

“I Did Not Seek For Political Support Or An Allience With FDC’S Nandala Mafabi For My 2026 Candidature”-Sironko NRM Woman MP, Nabulo Refutes

In Sironko, politics is rarely just about party colours. It is about relationships, local influence, and who genuinely holds the ear of the community. That is why the emerging video of Asha Lumolo an NRM flagbearer has reached out to Hon. Nandala Nathan Mafabi an FDC figure and Presidential Flagbear with presidential ambitions has generated fresh discussion. On the surface, it sounds unusual, an NRM flagbearer asking for support from a leading opposition personality. But in the context of Sironko’s political dynamics, the request points to something deeper Nathan Nandala Mafabi’s enduring strength and relevance on the ground.Though according to Aisha Lumolo Nabulo, the nrm flagbearer for Sironko District, the circulating Video is too old, she says the video was captured in 2021, when Nandala was also contesting as an MP, whereas now, he is the fdc presidential candidate. Ugandan politics is often framed as a hard divide between the ruling NRM and the opposition. Publicly, party actors trade criticism, defend records, and mobilize supporters against each other. Yet at community level, the lines can blur when reality demands it. Leaders attend the same funerals, weddings, church services, and community meetings. They consult one another quietly, even when their supporters expect rivalry in reality. It is within that reality that Asha Lumolo’s  requested for Mafabi’s Support lands less as a shock, and more as a signal that in Sironko, Mafabi is a political force too significant to sidestep sidelining the anticipated presence of Hajji Sulaiman Lumolo the father to the woman aspiring membe of Parliament and Strong pillar as NRM Chairperson Sironko.Hon. Nandala Mafabi is not a new face in Uganda’s opposition politics. Over the years, he has built a national profile as a sharp debater, a consistent critic of government policy, and a politician comfortable speaking about jobs, prices, public services, and accountability. But presidential ambitions are not sustained by national television appearances alone. They require real local foundations places where your presence is felt, your networks are active, and your voice shapes conversations. In Sironko, Mafabi appears to command that kind of influence. He attracts attention beyond his party base. People listen to him not only as FDC flagbear or opposition, but as a leader with serious political standing. He has grassroots connections in area of residence.Influence in  Sironko depends on community trust local leaders, elders, youth groups, and opinion shapers who can mobilize or cool down political temperatures. His endorsement (or opposition) matters. Even when he is not on the ballot locally, his position can shape voter attitudes and political calculations locally.Without over-speculating, “Support” in Sironko’s local politics can mean several things that do not necessarily involve formal alliances. 1. Community acceptance and access.  Asha lumolo is said to be  struggling to penetrate certain communities or areas of Sironko . Therefore Support or even just goodwill from a highly respected figure of Hon Nathan Nandala Mafabi can open doors for her outreach for physical ground support.2. Mediation and calming tensions.     In some areas of Sironko specifically Budadiri West , Asha has been struggling to meditate and win people support.A well-known leader of Hon Nathan Nandala Mafabi can step in to reduce hostility, especially where supporters overlap through family, clan, or church ties.3. Strategic coordination.  Asha lumolo would as well  seek advice on how to handle local dynamics, influential groups, or campaign challenges especially in competitive terrain from Hon Nathan Nandala Mafabi being strong experienced local leader since 2001.4. Neutralizing opposition pressure.   In a tough race between Hon Min Nambozo Florence and other opposition candidates, getting an opponent to soften her stance, or at least reduce political temperature, can be seen as asset to her political success for 2026 Member of Parliament bid.Whatever the exact nature of the Support, the bigger message is the same: Asha Lumolo’s move for support from FDC’S Presidential Candidate suggests that his presence in Sironko is not just symbolic,it affects election outcomes.People in Sironko debate issues openly, follow personalities closely, and often judge leaders by visibility and practical impact. In that environment, NRM’s party machinery alone is not always enough as she has tried this before in 2021. Candidates must demonstrate local legitimacy that’s the reason she has to seeking for endorsement or recommendations. If Asha lumolo the NRM flagbearer for the position  of Women Member of Parliament felt compelled to approach an FDC presidential hopeful, it may also hint at shifting or contested ground an acknowledgement that the political field is not automatically settled, and that influence is distributed in ways that cannot be ignored. Therefore this as well affects the NRM’s Presidential candidature since  Hon Nathan Nandala Mafabi is a presidential representative of FDC for the 2026 bid.For Mafabi, this kind of development being approached by a rival camp can reinforce a particular image, that he is not merely an opposition figure speaking to opposition supporters, but a leader whose standing forces even competitors to engage him. In this context to the request for support we also assume the Hon Nathan Nandala Mafabi demands for the same support and endorsement for his presidential bid which Asha lumolo and the NRM Chairperson Sulaiman Lumolo should as well offer . Should this now be the signal to end of NRM in Sironko as the system is heading for alliance for the 2026 bid? You scratch my back , I scratch yours too and Tit for tat . NRM/FDC Alliance in Sironko. However to our understanding this will look like an opportunistic game for Asha lumolo and Father by sacrificing the NRM in Sironko.Asha Lumolo’s visible request for support from Hon. Nandala Mafabi is more than a headline-worthy twist. It is a window into Sironko’s real political arithmetic where personal influence, community credibility, and grassroots strength can override the neat simplicity of party labels and party influence. And if there is one clear takeaway in Sironko, Mafabi’s strength is strong enough that even an NRM flagbearer and NRM  team must reckon with it whether as a rival to compete against, or a leader whose cooperation is worth seeking.
