Global African Diaspora to Converge in Toronto for African Descent

African Descent Summit 2026 Announced in Toronto: Dates, Theme, and Highlights

Toronto, Ontario — July 17–19, 2026 — As the world converges around the energy of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Toronto will also host a powerful gathering of culture, leadership, and purpose. African Descent Ontario (ADSON) is proud to present the African Descent Summit 2026, themed “United by History for the Love of Our Heritage,” at Celebrations Banquet Hall, 174 Bartley Drive.

Positioned as a premier international convening of the global African diaspora, the Summit will bring together leaders, innovators, creatives, policymakers, scholars, activists, entrepreneurs, and youth from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, the United States, and Latin America. The three-day event is designed to celebrate shared heritage while advancing coordinated action for justice, economic empowerment, and community well-being.

Aligned with the global momentum of the World Cup, the Summit leverages culture—through football, art, music, and dialogue—as a catalyst for unity and socio-economic transformation. Participants will engage in high-level panel discussions addressing social justice, leadership, and economic opportunity, alongside cultural and business exhibitions that spotlight excellence and innovation across the diaspora.

Key program highlights include a VIP Welcome Dinner, youth and community engagement sessions, and a Gala Evening showcasing artistic and cultural brilliance. Each moment is intentionally curated to foster collaboration, inspire investment, and strengthen cross-continental partnerships.

“We are not merely observing history—we are actively shaping it,” said Alice Hope Birungi, Executive Director of ADSON. “This summit is where vision becomes coordinated action for justice, economic advancement, and holistic well-being across the diaspora.”

Thaddius Ssempagala, Director of Events, added, “Every handshake, every performance, and every conversation is intentionally designed to strengthen our collective fabric. This summit is where inspiration meets opportunity.”

“This summit is both a living archive of our excellence and a launchpad for future initiatives,” noted Tendai Florence Tsaurai, General Secretary of ADSON.
