Newly promoted Uganda Premier League (UPL) side Lugazi have officially confirmed their eleventh new signing, striker Bashamu Mugwa from Busoga United.
“We have finalised the transfer of Bashamu Mugwa from Busoga United, with the youthful striker signing a two-year contract with us,” Lugazi confirmed on Wednesday morning.
The forward brings with him topflight experience to Lugazi, having featured in the UPL for two seasons with Busoga United where he scored eleven goals in 48 games.
“Lugazi is a good team, they give chance to young players to develop as individuals and as players, and that is what I need now,” the striker said after joining the Leaders.
“The team is new in the league but some players here have experience at this stage, actually, some have more experience in the UPL than I do.”
“Therefore, we know what it means to be in UPL, and if we join forces and work together as a unit, we shall push this team to heights where people don’t expect it to reach.”
He has previously played for Freedom Stars Soccer Academy in Bugiri (2016/2017), Busia Fisheries (2018/2019), Mwatate United – Kenya (2019/2020) and Luwero United (2020).
Mugwa is now the eleventh player to join Lugazi in this transfer window, following the signings of; George Oluka, Rogers Atube, Rogers Adriko, Sharif Saaka, Dennis Lubowa, Nelson Mandela, Emmanuel Obua, Ian Amanya, Juma Mutebi, and Bashir Asiku.
