Bobi Wine Suspends Mathias Mpuuga From NUP Vice Presidency Over Alleged Corruption – Plus News
Bobi Wine, also known as Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, has suspended Hon. Mathias Mpuuga from his role as Deputy President (Central Region) of the party due to allegations of corruption and abuse of office.
In a statement obtained by Plus News, Bobi Wine cited Mpuuga’s failure to provide satisfactory explanations for his alleged actions as the reason for the suspension.
The statement referenced Article 53 (b) and (f) of the party constitution, which mandates members to uphold conduct that does not tarnish the party’s name and to practice accountable leadership.
“In accordance with article 6.3(h) and 7.1(e) of the party constitution, I hereby suspend you from the position of deputy president of NUP for the central region with immediate effect and refer the matter to the National Executive Committee for further review,” the statement highlighted.
During a press conference earlier in the week, Mpuuga affirmed his commitment to the National Unity Platform (NUP) despite facing public criticism. He expressed concern about the handling of the matter by the party’s top leadership, emphasizing the need for mature resolutions rather than political grandstanding.
Mpuuga stressed the importance of restoring public confidence in NUP and the opposition, emphasizing the party’s role in addressing Uganda’s political and social challenges.
