Four students from Buganda Royal Institute died in a road crash in Wakiso District, Uganda, as their car collided with a stationary soda truck while en route to a beach party. Two others were seriously injured.

WAKISO, (Examiner) – Four students from Buganda Royal Institute have been killed in a devastating road accident at Musinde on Garuga Road, situated in Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District. Witnesses report to Examiner that the students, on their way to a beach gathering, were traveling in a Toyota Rumion when it collided with a stationary soda truck.

Law enforcement authorities reveal that the driver of the vehicle, carrying the students, attempted to overtake another vehicle, resulting in the collision with the truck. Among the occupants, two students sustained severe injuries and were promptly transported to Kisubi Hospital for urgent medical attention.

The driver, also a student from Buganda Royal Institute, allegedly engaged in speeding along with a Toyota Hiace (drone) trailing behind. The attempt to overtake in a precarious corner led to the tragic collision with the stationary Fuso truck loaded with soda, claiming the lives of four students on the spot.

As investigations unfold, authorities have transferred the bodies of the deceased to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examinations. Michael Kananura, spokesperson for the traffic police, provided these details while emphasizing ongoing efforts to understand the circumstances surrounding the accident.
