Kayunga– A few hours after Kayunga district Chairperson and Senior Presidential Advisor, Mr. Moses Kalisa Kalangwa has perished in a road crash, Uganda Police Traffic Directorate has released details about the incident.

In a statement released by Mr. Michael Kananura, the Spokesperson of Uganda Police, a serious road traffic crash that later turned fatal was registered at Suuka along the Kayunga–Jinja Road in Kayunga District on the night of 17 May 2026 at approximately 21:00 PM.
“The crash involved vehicle number UG 0101 151, a Toyota Hilux & an unidentified motorcycle. Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the Toyota Hilux was travelling from Kayunga towards Jinja. Upon reaching Suuka near the Lake Oil Petrol Station, the vehicle collided with an unidentified motorcyclist who was joining the main road. As a result of the collision the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which overturned several times.” Reads part of the statement
That, the three passengers of the same vehicle sustained injuries in the crash including Mr. Kalangwa Kalisa Moses who suffered critical injuries.
“The victims were rushed to Kayunga Regional Referral Hospital for medical attention. Mr. Kalangwa was later referred to Nakasero Hospital where he was pronounced dead.”
Kananura has further added that investigations about the exact cause of the crash are still under way.
