Construction of Water Quality Monitoring and Management Laboratory Launched in Northern Uganda


The Ministry of Water and Environment officially handed over the site for the construction of a Water Quality Monitoring and Management Laboratory in Bobi Sub-County, Omoro District to the contractor; Zhonghao Overseas Construction Co. Ltd for commencement of works.

The ceremony was officiated by the Permanent Secretary Dr. Alfred Okot Okidi.
The Project will be funded under the Climate Resilience and Water Infrastructure for Refugees and Host Communities in Northern Uganda Program funded by European Union and German Government through KfW.
The project is aimed at enhancing water quality management in Northern Uganda.
The laboratory is expected to monitor water quality to ensure safety for both domestic and commercial use.
The facility will also identify sources of pollution and inform mitigation strategies while supporting climate resilience and sustainable water management.
The program comprises of three projects namely;
Climate Resilience and Water Infrastructure for Refugees and Host Communities in Northern Uganda Project
DKTI (The German Climate Technology Initiative): Transformation to CO2-Neutral Water Supply Project
European Union financed WASH Infrastructure in Schools Under European Union Program Gender for Development Uganda (G4DU).
The event was attended by Omoro District officials, Bobi Sub-County leaders, Water and Sanitation Development Facility-North and Umbrella of Water and Sanitation-North Officials who will use the facility and community members.
