Junior Officers Chevroned at Luzira Women’s Prison


On Wednesday, jubilations covered Luzira Women Maximum Security Prison as newly promoted junior officers were officially chevroned in a colorful ceremony.

The event was presided over by Mr. Xavier Francis Elubu, Assistant Commissioner of Prisons and Regional Prisons Commander (RPC) for Kampala Extra Region. He congratulated the officers upon their promotions and encouraged them to continue working hard, remain disciplined, and serve with professionalism.
The promoted officers were joined by their families, who came to witness and celebrate this important milestone in their careers. The atmosphere was filled with smiles and pride as the officers received their new ranks.
A total of 60 junior officers were promoted at the facility. These included 1 Chief Warder Grade I (CH I), 4 Chief Warders Grade III (CH III), 19 Sergeants (SGT Wardresses), 4 Corporals (CPL Wardresses), and 32 Lance Corporals (L/Cpl Wardresses).
The celebrations continued with the cutting of a cake and sharing of soft drinks, symbolizing unity, appreciation, and joy among the officers and their families.
Luzira Women Maximum Security Prison, known as the largest women’s prison in Uganda, continues to stand out in discipline and service. These promotions serve as motivation to the officers and reflect recognition of their hard work and dedication.
