Police in Mbarara City have arrested three men suspected of being part of a criminal gang accused of terrorizing residents in the city.
The suspects were apprehended on Wednesday during an intelligence-led operation conducted in Baghdad Suburb, Lugazi Cell, Kakoba Ward.
According to the Mbarara City Division Police Commander, SP Kenneth Kabwigo Gumisiriza, the operation led to the recovery of narcotic substances, housebreaking implements, and other dangerous items found in the suspects’ possession.
Kabwigo said preliminary investigations indicate that the three men are believed to be members of a gang linked to a series of criminal activities that have caused insecurity among residents in Mbarara City.
The suspects were arrested after police acted on intelligence information and carried out a targeted operation in the area.
Police said the suspects are expected to face charges of possession of narcotic substances and possession of housebreaking implements as investigations continue.
