MITOOMA POPULAR KIDNAP: VITIM RESCUED ALIVE, 3 ARRESTED – MK Newslink

Police in Mitooma District have rescued a kidnap victim and arrested three suspects following a coordinated intelligence-led operation conducted across districts, according to the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, SP Apollo Tayebwa.
The victim, identified as Israel Twesigye , 45, a resident of Sherere Village in Rwaburunga Sub-county, Mitooma District, was allegedly kidnapped on June 5, 2026, by a group of suspects who disguised themselves in police-like branded T-shirts.
According to SP Tayebwa, the suspects abducted the victim using a motor vehicle registration number UAV 595G before demanding a ransom of Shs30 million from his relatives in exchange for his release.
Police immediately launched investigations after receiving the report and deployed tracking teams to pursue critical leads. Through intelligence gathering and coordinated tracking efforts, the suspects were traced to Sembabule District…

SP Tayebwa said the motor vehicle allegedly used in the commission of the crime was recovered and is being held as an exhibit at Mitooma Police Station to aid ongoing investigations.
Police said efforts are underway to apprehend other accomplices who remain at large.
