Mukono Diocese Leaders Call for Spiritual Maturity at Diocesan Convention

Mukono– Christians from across Mukono Diocese and beyond gathered at the Diocesan Headquarters on Sunday, for Mukono Diocese Convention 2026, a major annual evangelistic gathering held at Bishop Ssebaggala Synod Hall under the theme, _“Growing Spiritual Maturity in Christ” (Ephesians 4:13).

The convention drew church leaders and Christians from various congregations for a day of worship, fellowship, and spiritual renewal aimed at strengthening believers in their Christian walk.
Delivering the keynote sermon, Provost of All Saints’ Cathedral Kampala, The Very Rev. Canon Dr. Rebecca Margaret Nyegenye, challenged Christians to remain focused on their calling as citizens of heaven and to intentionally pursue spiritual maturity.
Drawing from Ephesians 4:13, she emphasized that spiritual growth is the responsibility of every believer, not a select few. She urged Christians to deepen their understanding of faith through a personal relationship with Christ and to clearly explain what they believe, why they are saved, and the eternal hope ahead.
Canon Nyegenye further encouraged believers to use their spiritual gifts for Church edification, promote unity, speak truth in love, care for one another, and reflect Christ’s character daily.
_“If believers faithfully offered their gifts and talents in service to Christ, the Church would be far more effective in fulfilling its mission and advancing the Kingdom of God,” she said._
Closing the convention, Bishop of Mukono Diocese Rt. Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo commended organizers for choosing a theme addressing a core aspect of Christian life.
“We have all been called by God to grow. A mature believer is known by the quality of their decisions and by the testimony of their life,” Bishop Kagodo said.
He noted spiritual maturity is reflected in a person’s words, decisions, and conduct. The Bishop described the overwhelming attendance as evidence of maturity.
_“Even this gathering is a sign of maturity. Spiritually mature believers value fellowship, especially spiritual fellowship. The fact that Christians gathered here in large numbers demonstrates a desire to grow in Christ,” he remarked.
Following the convention, Diocesan Mission Coordinator Rev. Mikka Lukwago Migavu announced the next Mukono Diocese Convention will be hosted by Nakibizzi Archdeaconry in September 2026 for three days.
Preparations will be undertaken jointly by Nasuuti, Bbaale, Kangulumira, and Lugazi Archdeaconries, together with Mukono High School, Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital, and the Lay Readers’ Executive.
The forthcoming convention is expected to attract thousands of Christians for worship, evangelism, fellowship, and spiritual enrichment as the Church encourages believers to attain maturity in Christ.
