Nakanyonyi Senior Secondary School was filled with joy, praise, and gratitude as the school community gathered for a thanksgiving service to celebrate the outstanding performance of its 2025 candidates in the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) results, particularly the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
The service, led by Mukono Diocesan Secretary Rev. John Musoke, brought together school leaders, PTA members, heads of departments, teaching staff, former headteacher Mr. Amos Bbalongo, and both O-Level and A-Level candidates. The gathering offered a moment for reflection, thanksgiving, and appreciation of the school’s academic journey.
In his sermon, Rev. Musoke commended the dedication and hard work of the teaching staff, attributing the impressive results to their unwavering commitment. He highlighted the A-Level performance, noting that the best candidate scored 19 points in a science combination, describing it as a remarkable achievement for the school.
He also applauded the leadership of the current headteacher, Mr. George Wateta, school chaplain Rev. David Mukooza, and former headteacher Mr. Amos Bbalongo for promoting both academic excellence and spiritual growth within the institution.
“We are here to thank God for the success of our candidates,” Rev. Musoke said, expressing gratitude that all students were able to sit for and receive their results successfully.
Addressing the students, he urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and grounded in faith. He emphasized the importance of choosing friends wisely, seeking divine guidance, and working diligently, while cautioning against shortcuts in life. He further encouraged learners to discover their unique talents, avoid unhealthy comparisons, and embrace failure as part of the journey toward success.
The occasion also recognized excellence, with awards presented to top-performing students and teachers who played a significant role in the success of the 2025 candidate classes.
A highlight of the event was a tribute to former headteacher Mr. Amos Bbalongo, whose leadership was credited for strengthening both academic performance and infrastructure development at the school. Plans were also announced to hold a separate thanksgiving service in his honor.
In his remarks, headteacher Mr. George Wateta thanked the clergy for leading the service and appreciated all stakeholders for their continued support, noting that such moments of thanksgiving strengthen unity and commitment to excellence.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Ven. Charles Bukenya, Archdeacon of Bukoba, and Hon. Kiwanuka Sulaiman, MP-elect of Nakifuma County, alongside board members, staff, parents, and students.
