Nation Media Group Outlets Shutdown in Uganda


Kampala– The operations of Nation Media Group in Uganda have been suspended with their offices both at Serena Hotel Kampala and Namuwongo Industrial Area sealed off by the Army.

According to the communication from various social media platforms of Nation Media outlets, the shutdown was effected during the early morning hours of Sunday.
It was revealed that the transmitters at KFM, Dembe FM and NTV were all switched off as no staff was allowed to access the sealed off offices.
The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba via his official X account confirmed having ordered the closure of Nation Media adding that they will not open without his clearance.
In the same vain, National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has expressed concern about the shutdown of several broadcast channels and Daily Monitor News paper under Nation Media group.
“We assure our members and the public that we are following up on all fronts and will issue a more detailed statement once verified facts emerge,” reads part of the Statement
The association also revealed, that it has already formally contacted the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), and the Chief of Defence Forces to seek clarification on the circumstances surrounding the shutdown and work towards a resolution.
