Peace and security continue to be the cornerstone upon which all social and economic development efforts are built.
Economic Growth and ResilienceHe highlighted continued economic growth, supported by wealth-creation initiatives such as the Parish Development Model, Emyooga, industrialization, and value addition. These initiatives are intended to increase household incomes, create jobs, and reduce poverty across the country.
Domestic Revenue MobilizationThe address underscored the importance of increasing domestic revenue collection, widening the tax base, and combating corruption. Greater domestic revenue reduces dependence on external financing and strengthens national self-reliance.
Industrialization and Value AdditionThe President reiterated the need to process Uganda’s raw materials locally to create jobs, increase exports, and accelerate economic transformation. Value addition will enable Uganda to earn more from its resources while promoting industrial growth and employment.
Infrastructure DevelopmentGovernment investments in roads, electricity, ICT, and other strategic infrastructure were highlighted as critical drivers of growth. Improved infrastructure lowers the cost of doing business and enhances regional competitiveness.
Oil and Gas SectorProgress toward commercial oil production was presented as a major opportunity for economic transformation and industrial development. If managed prudently, oil revenues could significantly support Uganda’s long-term development agenda.
Role of the 12th ParliamentMembers of Parliament were urged to promote patriotism, accountability, and legislation that supports socio-economic transformation. Parliament’s effectiveness will be crucial in translating national priorities into tangible benefits for citizens.
Outlook for UgandaThe President expressed optimism regarding Uganda’s future, citing strong foundations in peace, infrastructure, and economic development. The outlook remains positive provided the country sustains discipline, productivity, and strategic investment.
ConclusionIn conclusion, the State of the Nation Address highlighted Uganda’s continued progress in peace and security, economic growth, industrialization, infrastructure development, and preparations for oil production. The President called upon Parliament, government institutions, the private sector, and all citizens to safeguard these achievements and work together to accelerate socio-economic transformation. As Christians, we are reminded that ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain’ (Psalm 127:1). While appreciating the progress made, we entrust Uganda’s future to Almighty God, praying for wisdom for our leaders, prosperity for our people, and lasting peace and stability for our nation. May God bless Uganda and guide her on the path of sustainable development and shared prosperity.
