URA Ladies FC have secured a historic promotion to the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League after edging UPDF Women FC 1-0 in a decisive FUFA Women Elite League fixture played on Saturday evening at Kawempe Muslim Grounds.
The Tax Collectors sealed their place in Uganda’s top-flight women’s league thanks to an early strike from Cynthia Kirenga, who found the back of the net in the fifth minute of the first half. Her goal proved enough to hand URA Ladies all three points and spark celebrations after an exceptional campaign.

The victory moves URA Ladies to 38 points on top of the Elizabeth Group standings, five points ahead of second-placed Boni Consili. With only one league match remaining, Boni Consili can no longer catch the leaders, mathematically confirming URA Ladies’ promotion to the 2026/27 Super League season.
Speaking after the milestone achievement, defender Angel Gloria Nakanywagi credited the club’s management, teammates and technical staff for the success.

“Our bosses have been supporting us well, welfare was good, so our only promise to them was to qualify for the Super League and the mission is accomplished. I thank my teammates and the technical staff for this milestone,” Nakanywagi said.
URA Ladies have been the standout side in the Elite League this season. They have won 12 of their 14 matches and drawn the remaining two, maintaining an unbeaten record throughout the campaign. They now head into their final fixture with the opportunity to complete the season without suffering a single defeat.
Attention now shifts to the race for the second promotion slot, with Jinja United Women FC still in contention to join URA Ladies in next season’s Super League. The promoted sides will replace the relegated Olila WFC and Asubo Ladies FC.
