President Ramaphosa set for two-day diplomatic mission to Uganda – The Black Examiner

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to visit Uganda for two days to strengthen bilateral relations. This follows his previous visit in January during the Non-Aligned Movement Summit.

In an effort to fortify the robust diplomatic ties between South Africa and Uganda, President Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled to embark on a significant two-day Working Visit to Uganda, as confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The visit is slated to occur from April 15th to April 16th, 2024.

This diplomatic excursion follows a series of notable events, including the recent resignation of South African Parliament Speaker Mapisa-Nqakula amid a corruption probe, as well as discussions involving President Ramaphosa alongside counterparts Tshisekedi and Évariste concerning SADC Troops Operations in DR Congo.

President Ramaphosa’s previous visit to Uganda took place in January this year during the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement at Speke Resort in Munyonyo. During his stay, he conveyed gratitude to the Ugandan government and its citizens for the warm hospitality extended during his visit to the “Pearl of Africa.” Additionally, he extended congratulations to President Museveni and pledged unwavering support as Uganda assumed chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Group of 77 plus China.

This forthcoming visit is poised to further solidify the enduring bond between the Republic of Uganda and the Republic of South Africa, underscoring the importance of diplomatic collaboration in addressing regional and global challenges. Stay tuned for live updates and comprehensive coverage as this diplomatic mission unfolds.
