Prime Minister Launches Namagumba, Budadiri, Nalugugu Road Project In Sironko

The Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja was on Wednesday launched the Namagumba-Budadiri-Nalugugu road project.

The ceremony took place at at Budadiri girls Secondary School in Sironko district. 

The Prime Minister flagged off the construction of the 39 km road, expected to cost over sh.129 billion with funding from the African development bank.

The Prime minister who represented the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, in her address warned the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) to desist from shoddy works also calling upon the residents to strictly monitor the constructions and report any cases of theft in order to produce good quality work.

“Dear UNRA please insure quality work, and you the residents please monitor every construction stage, don’t accept those who will steal the cement and fuel because it will affect the quality of the road, so let everybody monitor one another so that we produce a good quality road” stated Nabbanja. 

Eng. Irene Muloni, the MP, Bulambuli district while attending the same groundbreaking ceremony asked the residents to be cooperative with the contractors and thanked the Government saying that the reconstruction of the road will ease the movement of people and goods between various places in the area.

Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has contracted Shandong Luqiao Group Co.Ltd to spear head the construction works with plans to upgrade the

Namagumba-Budadiri-Nalugugu road from gravel to paved standard to facilitate mobility, trade, and tourism within Eastern Uganda. 

Namagumba-Budadiri-Nalugugu 30.7 Km Road is part of the National Road network that stretches about 30 Km from Namagumba, a junction of about 5 Km along Mbale-Namunsi trading center. It is part of the link that connects Sironko Kapchorwa and Mbale towns to the people living at the slopes of Mt. Elgon.
