Rogers Atube: KCCA Defender Joins Lugazi
Versatile defender Rogers Atube has officially joined newly promoted Uganda Premier League (UPL) side Lugazi from another topflight side KCCA.
“We are pleased to confirm the signing of Rogers Atube from KCCA,” Lugazi confirmed on Friday.
Atube had joined KCCA in September 2022, from Big League side Calvary on a three-year deal – a contract that would run until 2025, but he has now left the Kasasiro Boys for the Leaders after two seasons at Lugogo.
The towering defender has now signed a two-year contract with the Lugazi side, that will utilise him as a centreback, and leftback, capitalizing on his great physique, aerial prowess and a good ball sense.
Besides KCCA and Calvary, the Acholi Province defender has also previously played for Gulu United, Ndejje University, and Football for Good Academy in Gulu.
Atube is now the ninth player to join Lugazi in this transfer window, following the signings of; Rogers Adriko, Sharif Saaka, Dennis Lubowa, Nelson Mandela, Emmanuel Obua, Ian Amanya, Juma Mutebi, and Bashir Asiku.
