TikToker jailed six years for abusing Museveni

A 24 year old TikTok wannabe will spend six years in prison for abusing President Museveni.Edward Awebwa, a self employed resident of Entebbe in Wakiso district was arrested last week after recording a video of himself abusing the president, the First Lady Janet Museveni and the First Son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and later shared it on TikTok.On Wednesday, Awebwa pleaded guilty to charges of  hate speech and malicious information.He was consequently sentenced by Entebbe Chief Magistrate, Stella Maria Amabilis to six years imprisonment.Whereas he asked for forgiveness, the magistrate said there was need to bring to an end the vice of youths using social media to pour their anger but also abuse leaders.The magistrate said the punishment should be a lesson to other would be offenders about the consequences of misusing social media.She however said Awebwa can appeal against the sentence in 14 days if not satisfied.https://www.ugbulletin.co.ug/tiktoker-jailed-six-years-for-abusing-museveni/
