Nairobi, Kenya – Acclaimed Ugandan media personality, sports administrator, and political figure Cedric Ndilima Babu is currently battling for his life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a Nairobi hospital after suffering severe heart failure.

The 46-year-old collapsed during a recent trip to Kigali, Rwanda, prompting an urgent medical evacuation to Kenya’s capital after his health drastically deteriorated. Doctors now confirm that Cedric requires an emergency heart transplant, a highly specialized and costly procedure only available outside Africa.

In a heartfelt appeal issued this week, Cedric’s family revealed that they need to raise £300,000 (approx. UGX 1.5 billion) to facilitate his transfer to London for the life-saving operation.

“Cedric — our father, brother, son, uncle, friend, and bright light — is currently in the ICU, courageously fighting for his life… His only chance of survival now lies in a heart transplant,” the family said in an emotional statement.

In 2021, Cedric ran for Member of Parliament for Kampala Central, championing causes such as youth empowerment, civic responsibility, and inclusive development. Though he didn’t clinch the seat, his campaign left a lasting impact on Uganda’s youth-oriented political discourse.

With a career spanning over two decades, Cedric has remained a vibrant force in Uganda’s media and civic landscape. His blend of charisma, creativity, and compassion has made him a beloved figure among young Ugandans, sports enthusiasts, and media professionals.
