Joint Security Forces in the Karamoja sub-region are investigating circumstances under which a UPDF soldier died in Moroto district.

The deceased has been identified as Bosco Okello, attached to the Kauriong Army detachment in Amudat district.

It is reported that on Wednesday, during morning hours, Okello had gone to Kosiroi trading center to buy food but never returned.

This prompted his colleagues to mount the search until on Saturday when they found his body lying in the bush just 150 meters away from the main road. The deceased was dressed in a UPDF T-shirt and trousers.

Michael Longole, the Mt Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson said that a team of detectives rushed to the scene with a snifer dog but no positive leads for the arrest.

In the related development, the Joint Security Forces have deployed along Rupa –Nakiloro road after a spate of attacks by the suspected Karamojong warriors.

The armed warriors have been laying ambushes, stealing cows, and extorting money from road users.

Michael Longole, the Mt Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson said they have enhanced visibility in the Nakiloro area and mobile motorized patrols to ensure the community and the road users are safe.

Longole urged the communities and travelers to report cases of attacks to the security forces for swift response. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the forces to deal with the wrong elements.
