Livingstone Mbabazi Appointed New Vipers SC Head Coach – The Hoima Post –

The defending champions of Startimes Uganda Premier League Vipers SC, have confirmed the appointment of Livingstone Mbabazi as their new coach with immediate effect.

The 43-year old takes charge of the team immediately ahead of Wednesday’s encounter against NEC FC at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende. Mbabazi takes over from Leonard Martins Neiva, who left about a fortnight back after reaching a mutual agreement with the club.

His immediate task will be overseeing a turnaround of events at the club, having suffered two consecutive league defeats. Losing 2-3 to BUL at home and 0-2 to Express FC in Wankulukuku.

The double defeats  saw Vipers SC move to fourth on the table with 24 points in 13 games played so far.

Meanwhile, at Arua Hill in the past two years, Mbabazi has seen the club finish fifth and fourth in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns, respectively.

His experience has seen him enjoy coaching stints at Wakiso Giants FC, Onduparaka FC, Mbarara City FC, Somalia National team, Soltilo Bright Stars FC, Lweza FC, and Masavu.

As a player, Mbabazi enjoyed a successful career especially with KCCA FC and Scottish side St Patrick Athletic, where he’s regarded as a club great.

He also played in Vietnam at Ha Noi ACB and Binh Duong, before capping his playing career at Wandegeya FC.

He is an ex-international, who actively played for the Uganda Cranes for four years between 1998 to 2003.
