Fueling digital LGBT+ rights activism in East Africa

LGBT+ youths and young adults from East Africa will be trained in online advocacy

The Kenya-based African Queer Youth Initiative and the U.S.-based online activists of All Out are offered a week of training for young East Africans working for LGBT+ rights.
The application deadline is May 10.
The overall goal, as described on AQYI’s website, is “an African society that views LGBTQI+ youths as normal and respects their rights to live meaningful and fulfilling lives.”
The more immediate goal is “to establish a dynamic network of empowered change-makers across East Africa, fostering a deep understanding of the challenges faced by LGBTQI+ youths in the region.”
This is All Out’s invitation to young-adult activists:
We’re hosting another round of our Fueling Digital Activism (FDA) training, in partnership with AQYI, from 15th to 19th June 2026.
If you are:
✅18 – 30 years old✅From Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia or Rwanda✅Have demonstrated passion for the rights and well-being of LGBT+ people in the region✅And are able to fully and actively participate throughout the entire training.
Then this is for you. Our training is designed to equip participants with valuable insights into advocating for LGBT+ rights and to offer a platform to launch and manage digital campaigns effectively.

Call For Applications: Fuelling Digital Activism Training – East Africa
AQYI and All Out are pleased to announce the call for applications for the next phase of the Fueling Digital Activism training series in Africa.
From 15th to 19th June 2026, we will hold an immersive training for young LGBTQI+ rights activists from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Rwanda. The FDA training aims to unite activists from these countries in a participatory training experience focused on digital activism. Our goal is to establish a dynamic network of empowered change-makers across East Africa, fostering a deep understanding of the challenges faced by LGBTQI+ youths in the region.
This comprehensive training is designed to equip participants with valuable insights into advocating for LGBTQI+ rights and to offer a platform to launch and manage their digital campaigns effectively. Developed through a needs analysis of prominent activists in the region, the curriculum covers a range of topics relevant to digital campaigning. Participants will delve into campaign creation, fundraising strategies, creative elements, media collaboration, and digital security.

We welcome applications from individuals who meet the following criteria:
Age Range: 18 – 30 years old.
Nationality: From one of the target countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Rwanda).
Passion: Demonstrated passion for the rights and well-being of LGBTQI+ individuals in the region.
Commitment: Ability to fully and actively participate throughout the entire training.
Deadline: 10th May 2026
We encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply, including non-binary and transgender individuals, those residing in rural areas, and those engaged with religious communities.
Selected candidates will be granted a full scholarship covering all expenses related to the training, including travel, accommodation, and meals.
