NRM Caucus Endorses Oboth, Tayebwa for Speaker and Deputy Respectively


Entebbe– The long wait for National Resistance Movement candidate on the position of Speaker and Deputy Speaker for 12th Parliament is now over after declaring the results from the Caucus meeting.

Endorsed: Hon.Markson Oboth Oboth and Hon. Thomas Tayebwa.
“This evening at State House Entebbe, I met the first NRM Caucus of the 12th Parliament and welcomed the endorsement of Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth as candidate for Speaker and Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa as candidate for Deputy Speaker.” Announced President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni via his official X handle
He stated that upon congratulating them, that since inception of the NRM has rejected bad politics.
” When choosing leaders, we must first ask what needs to be done for the people before asking who should do it. Politics must reject identity, religion, tribalism and gender chauvinism, and instead focus on solving people’s problems. Our priority remains wealth creation and social- economic transformation through productive engagement in agriculture, services, artisanship and ICT.”
The 12th Parliament tomorrow will hold its first sitting on Monday 25th May 2026. It’s from this sitting that the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker will be elected
New candidate on the position of Speaker will contest against National Unity Platform’s Paul Mwiru and Democratic Party’s Nobert Mao.
