USSSA Ball Games 1: Latifah Mixed SS to Face St Noa Girls in U20 Girls’ Football Quarter Final Clash | Voice of Bugerere

History beckons for Latifah Mixed Secondary School Kabimbiri as they prepare to take on East African giants St Noa Girls Secondary School Zzana in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Ball Games I U20 Girls’ Football championship.
The much-anticipated fixture is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5th, at the Uganda Christian University Main Playground, where it will open the day’s quarterfinal action. For the Mukono-based side, this marks a historic milestone—their first-ever appearance at this stage of the national championship.
Latifah Mixed SS has already proven they are no pushovers. In a dramatic Round of 16 encounter on Monday morning, they edged past Kampala powerhouse Uganda Martyrs Lubaga via a tense 4-3 penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in normal time. Goals from Joan Namutwa and captain Pauline Namulinda kept their hopes alive before they held their nerve from the spot.

Their journey to the quarterfinals has been nothing short of impressive. Despite opening their campaign with a narrow 3-2 loss to Jinja Secondary School, Latifah bounced back strongly with victories over Panyandoli Self Help Secondary School (2-1) and Binyinyi Secondary School (10-0).
They continued their fine form by eliminating St Andrews Secondary School Rubindi 4-2 in the Round of 32.Notably, Latifah Mixed has scored at least two goals in every match at the championship so far, a testament to their attacking consistency. However, they now face their toughest challenge yet.
St Noa Girls Secondary School Zzana, widely regarded as one of the region’s most dominant sides, come into the match as favorites. Known for their clinical finishing and disciplined play, they will be aiming to assert their pedigree early.
With all other Mukono Zone teams already out of contention, the hopes of the region now rest solely on Latifah Mixed SS. A victory would not only send them into the semifinals but also cement their place in history as one of the competition’s biggest surprises.
All eyes will be on Mukono this Tuesday as underdogs chase glory against seasoned champions.
