USSSA Ball Games 2026: Quarter Finalists Confirmed As Giants Survive Round of 16 Battles In Lira | Voice of Bugerere

The race for the 2026 USSSA National Boys Football Championship title intensified on Saturday as the Round of 16 delivered thrilling encounters, narrow victories and penalty drama in Lira City.
Traditional powerhouses Buddo Secondary School, St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende and Kyadondo Secondary School all booked places in the quarter finals after hard-fought victories at the Lira Town College playground.
Buddo SS edged youthful Kawempe Muslim Secondary School 2-1 in one of the most entertaining fixtures of the day. Aboy Ambroze emerged the hero for Buddo with a brace, while Kimbowa Ukasha scored Kawempe Muslim’s consolation goal as Buddo advanced to the last eight.
St. Mary’s Kitende also survived a stern test against Madinah Islamic, securing a 2-1 victory to continue their quest for national title they last won in 2023. The Wakiso giants showed composure in crucial moments to seal qualification to the quarter finals.
Kyadondo SS equally progressed after defeating Nkoma SS 2-1 in another closely contested tie at Lira Town College Pitch.
Elsewhere, Bukedea Comprehensive School needed a solitary strike from Godi Musa in the 30th minute to eliminate Greenlight Islamic 1-0 and march into the quarter finals.
Amus College School joined the last eight after Ivan Okello scored the decisive goal in a narrow 1-0 victory over home side Mentor SS.
Masaka Secondary School also advanced courtesy of Ssemakula Ali Shafic’s lone strike in a 1-0 triumph against Lubiri Secondary School.
Numasa Secondary School continued their impressive run at the championship with a commanding 2-0 win over Busia Secondary School to secure a quarter final berth.
Meanwhile, London College Nansana survived a tense penalty shootout against Mbale Secondary School after normal time ended goalless. London College triumphed 4-2 on penalties to complete the list of quarter finalists.
