President Museveni has said the people who hired the killers of former assistant director of public prosecutions, Joan Kagezi need to be known by the public.“We now have the suspects (who killed Kagezi) and these people(suspects) were saying there were sent by some people. These people were saying they were hired but who sent them,” Museveni asked.He was speaking during the seventh Joan Kagezi Memorial lecture at Kololo independence grounds on Thursday.The president asked the Criminal Investigations Director, AIGP Tom Magambo to explain to the audience if the person(s) who hired the killers of Joan Kagezi had been arrested.In response, Magambo said soon the world will know who hired the killers.“ I want to assure you we have very good leads on the people who had sent them. Your Excellency, we shall brief you,” AIGP Magambo said.In November, last year, after nine years, four men were finally charged with the murder of Joan Kagezi.John Kibuuka , Nasur Abdallah Mugonole , John Masajagge and Kisekka Daniel Kiwanuka were arraigned before the Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court and charged with murder and terrorism.Speaking on Thursday, President Museveni said the killers of Joan Kagezi miscalculated thinking they would get away with the murder.“In this case, the killers of Kagezi thought they were smart. They thought were smart but miscalculated and now we have them. Many of those who sent them from DRC are dead since we have been attacking them,” Museveni said.“This(Kagezi) is a lady who apparently got threats from some terrorists who sent her messages that if you don’t stop prosecuting us seriously, we shall harm you. She said she couldn’t be compromised. The way crime works is like the virus of AIDS which has taken time to get cure or even vaccine and this is because it invades the defence system of the body which should be protecting the body. That is what corrupt people do. They demand to take over investigative and adjudicating parts of the state to compromise the CID, DPP and the judiciary then you have impunity.
