FUFA Big League table leaders Police scored a late goal to claim three points on the road – against West Nile-based side Calvary.

Second half substitute Herman Wasswa scored the all-important goal for the visiting Cops in Midigo – Yumbe.

After over 80 minutes of no goal on either side, Wasswa’s stunning shot in the second half yielded results, as it ended up at the back of the net to give the Cops the lead with less than ten minutes left to play for in Midigo.

Wasswa pounced on a headed pass from Denis Kalanzi to score for Police in the 82nd minute, and that was just all the Cops needed, plus Edward Kasibante’s clean-sheet to secure a vital win on the road.

Police will maintain their number one position on the 15-team table, and have now gone six points clear at the top, following Lugazi’s 1-1 draw against Kyetume. Both Lugazi (2nd) and Kataka (3rd) are tied at 37 points, but the former boasts of a superior (+8) goal difference.
