NUP Calls for Expression of Interest in Kalangala Woman MP By-Election


Kampala– The National Unity Platform (NUP) election Management Committee (EMC) has invited qualified party members to express interest in contesting for the position of District Woman Member of Parliament for Kalangala District ahead of the forthcoming by-election.

According to a notice issued by the party, expressions of interest will be received on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 9:00am to 5:00pm at the NRM Party Headquarters in Makerere-Kavule, Kampala.
The EMC called upon interested members seeking to carry the party flag to physically submit written applications accompanied by required documents. These include a copy of the party membership card, National Identification Card, curriculum vitae, and certified copies of academic qualifications.
The announcement was signed by Harriet Chemutai, the Chairperson of the Election Management Committee, who urged eligible and willing members to take part in the exercise in accordance with party guidelines.
The by-election process is expected to attract competition among aspiring candidates seeking to represent Kalangala District in Parliament under the ruling party ticket.
Hon. Hellen Nakimuli, the Woman Member of Parlhament for Kalangala passed away a few days to swearing in ceremony.
